On recent events...

I can't help but feel that something's going on that we don't know about, when Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon, and now Billy Mays die when the news had just days earlier been covering a bloody protest in Iran, and North Korea is threatening to fire a missile at Hawaii on the Fourth of July. It's discomforting to consider that the deaths of these high-profile people could have been caused by some larger entity's will to get that news off the networks, but I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since Friday.

We all know that Vince from ShamWow killed Billy Mays.

On a much more serious note, however, I do feel the same way. The Ministry of Truth is at it again.

You seriously care about the protest in Iran? I am surprised to learn that.

Well, you are an American, remember?

Perhaps the protest in Iran is far more significant, but I certainly follow more on Michael Jackson's (and Desperate Housewives') news.

I have to say that the news you ("dark skinned Antony") follow is far more "American", than the news Don follows.

Americans only being concerned with what's going on with their own country (and Afghanistan/Iraq) is a stereotype that I thought I had disassociated myself with.

The "Dark Skinned One's" level of world understanding, is limited by superficial show biz idols and cartoon fantasies.
Unfortunately, "American" news sources dominate our media, Fox, NBC,CNN and the like.
I would like to see Al Jazira back on cable news. They were considered the "enemy" , but they were more balanced than the American media and the Brits put together.

Rev. Dr., I had actually been watching the Al-Jazeera English feed over the Internet a couple days ago. I knew it was the day that a large number of American troops were leaving Iraq, but CNN/Fox/etc weren't covering it. Enemy or not, at least Al-Jazeera had the sense to cover it, along with other more important things like that Airbus A310 that went down, but have only achieved status in the news ticker at the bottom of our screens.

Well, personally, I'm not surprised Al-Jazeera isn't carried by U.S. cable providers. I can imagine the outrage that some people would have if they did, but hey, that's what we get for making "terrorism" the new "Communism".

Thanks for correcting my spelling, I could not for the likes of me remember how it appeared on TV as it has been a while since I last saw Al Jazeera written!!
