Somebody get a statistician.

I'd like to someday compare the efficacy of an hour of the expensive Antony-sanctioned Wii Fit to the cheap Don-sanctioned method of taking a 4km walk while wearing a 15kg bag.

Of course you, the open source extremist, would be far less efficient, just because you didn't buy some $100 gizmo.

The Nintendo Wii Fit is not that expensive. Of course, it does not get your sanction because it is not an Xbox Fit from Microsoft.

Why do you carry a 15kg bag for a 4km walk?

What Don is trying to say is that why pay for something when you can do virtually the same thing for free? I believe he carries that 15kg bag with him to help him exercise better.

To borrow and slightly modify Antony's words: the fat Don needs to get fit, presenting Walking and 15kg Bag.

BTW, Thank you for using the metric units.

DON, the 4 Km walk would be just as effective if you walked more briskly without the 15 Kg back pack.
Unless of course it contains your books for class.
Eat a little of everything and not too much of anything and don't sit around too much and you will lose body mass. I have lost 7 Kg in the last 2 months using these principles. Cardio exercise is great but if you build muscle you will burn more kilojules/calories to feed your muscles.

My plan is to get used to the extra weight, and gradually try to increase speed and weight.

A friend of mine is getting ready to enter the Air Force and started similar training a few months back. Now he's walking 6.5km and running 2.5km with 23kg on his back (all figures converted to metrics by Google).

So you walked around the beautiful Boston with your 15 kg backpack, it sounds like a beautiful exercise in a beautiful city.

You do know of course DON, if you live in an Italian family, you stand less chance of weight loss if you have a typical Mamma in the kitchen. Not to eat her delicious food would be an insult beyond measure....LOL!!

Trust me, I'm well aware of that.

None of you like microwavable pizzas or microwavable burritos? Man, I live on that stuff.

Sometimes my friend will make a plate of microwaveable burritos when I go to his place, or we'll go to Burger King. The only times I've gone to a Burger King within the past six years have been with him.

You'd probably get along pretty well with him.
