Videogame-related decision-making

Due to financial constraints and the upcoming transition to college where I'll have less desk space to work with, I've decided that I'll be selling off two of my three video game consoles. I've been debating for awhile which ones to let go of. My options are:

  • The PS2. This one isn't doing a whole lot, and I've already finished all of the games I have for it. I don't use the DVD or CD player on it either. However, new games are still coming out on the PS2, meaning that I can continue to play some newer titles without dumping money on one of the newer consoles, so longevity is an issue to be taken into consideration.

  • The Xbox. It's modchipped with an Xecuter3 CE and has an 80GB hard drive upgrade in it. It runs Xbox Media Center and, as the name suggests, acts as my media center PC, which I use for MP3s, CDs, DVDs, etc. As far as games go, I've never actually bought a game for the Xbox, instead I run stuff like Doom and some SNES/N64 games on it. Of note is that pretty much everything I do with the Xbox can be duplicated on my laptop with no difficulty or hacks. Furthermore, due to all of the upgrades, this one would probably net me the most money overall.

  • The GameCube. Probably the console with the most sentimental value to me. I have every single title in the Legend of Zelda series for it, and have finished them all at least twice (except the two NES/Famicom ones). I'd like to keep Wind Waker and Twilight Princess around, as there aren't any decent PC emulators for the GameCube as there were for the earlier titles like Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time. However, Nintendo isn't making any new games for the Gamecube anymore, so it's pretty much a dead console to me, with a bunch of games I've already finished. The fact that this GameCube was one of the early models with a digital video output, combined with the fact that I have the HD video cable that was only available in Japan, could easily make this go for $60 or $70 above the market price.

Does anyone want to make any suggestions as to which two I should ditch?

It depends. Do you want the most money? Then sell the Xbox and Game Cube. If you want only the "most important" one, keep the GameCube. But if it was me, it'd be difficult. The one PS2-only game I love is MGS3, all the other games I have for PS2 are available for PC or aren't that great. The Xbox in itself seems to be like a PC, so you most likely wouldn't miss it. Keep the GameCube.

I was not aware that you will be leaving home to attend college DON. So RIT is not in beautiful Boston? Can't you just put the two you are not taking in the closet of your old room and forget about them? Unless your folks are going to rent your room...LOL!!

RIT is actually about 650km away from Boston. I could leave the other two in the closet, but these things only depreciate in value with time, and I'm probably not going to use them regularly for four years.

I've seen old Nintendo 64s going for as little as $10 now, so I'd rather get $200 while I still can, since it's a definite that I'm going to sell them at some point down the road.

Keep them all. You don't really need to sell them all.

Yes, they will depreciate with time, but if you can keep them long enough (and in mind condition), they will worth a fortune in an antique shop.
