Easier than E-Mail

This is how I communicate with the rest of my family.

Warning! Iced tea is strong!

To Antony: the container and the toaster in the background are both from the 1970s.

Heh. You don't run a Linux "tinker with" server? And my toaster is from like 2007. (It keeps on breaking on me).

But do you run an email server on them? Or Samba or any of that crap? BTW, I heard that Samba 4'll have an M$ AD type thing in it.

What is this entry to do with "Linux"?

I sometimes use Post-it notes or even print on an A4 paper.

To Don: Good to know that the high quality container and the toaster from the 70s last. Actually, I am surprised to know that.

Linux (which I wish to use, but it keeps on biting my hand) is a great OS. When learned, it does what you want it to do. It's fast, can be configured to do what ever you wish it to do. Including, making it look like Mac OS X, Windows, NeXTStep, or even OS/2.

I have a toaster from the 1930's in storage that still works, and has fabulous chrome plating.

Rev. Dr, it's something about me and cold stuff. During the summer I end up drinking a mix of 2/3 solid ice and 1/3 Mountain Dew, and I've also eaten crushed ice instead of just drinking cold water.

I also remember when I was younger, I spent a few afternoons in the walk-in refrigerator at my parents' workplace. If memory serves, that was the same year the heat wave hit in Europe.

But that other cold stuff, the kind that starts out white but then sticks to the ground and turns grey, whose name will not be mentioned for fear of provoking a certain someone? I hate that stuff.

The dark skin colour will qualify the use of the word "black", it does not necessary to be "African" or "African American".

When did I ever complain when it is cooler than 25C? I only tell Don that the poor black Antony does not have an aircon when the temperature goes above 30C.

Two problems:

1) No, sorry. Dark skin color alone does not qualify the term "black," which has historically referred to people of African descent.
2) You do not have "dark skin."

"Blacks" has also been used to used to refer to Aboriginals and some dark-skinned Pacific Islanders. Many of them also have very dark (black) colour.

Being an aging "techno-dullard", I didn't even know that we had any other choices beyond MS or Mac?
However DAVE, I suspect it is safer for me to remain "mainstream"!........LOL!

I've returned to Windows as Linux seemed to take up too much disk space. It took up 12.5GB (using the metric system that is) including a 1.5GB swap partition. And that's just with KDE installed. XP takes up not even 4 gigs with Firefox, mIRC, and other goodies installed. I'll think about using it again after KDE 4.2 comes out later this month. Maybe then I'll have some ideas on how to minimize disk space in Debian. Other than that I love KDE and Linux. The *NIX command shell blows the feeble Windows one away. I wonder how I've been able to survive without a great shell. Right now I'm using PowerShell (as that is the best Windows alternative there is now). The Windows version of Bash sucks. Maybe I'll try CYGWIN out (only for Bash, that is).

CDE seems to really fit what I want in an X desktop environment. If that doesn't work. It'll be vi and gcc time. Coding my own X Window manager.

Ahh, I really don't have anything either. Just kept on trying Linux distro's. They're all pretty good, but they just don't "click" as well as XP. Plus, KDE 4 on Windows wasn't quite that good either. I did like Dolphin, but it doesn't function the same as it does on UNIX-likes.
