And the New Year begins.

I woke up this morning with "WEAR SHOES" scribbled on my hand. At the foot of my bed is a pair of shoes, no pun intended. After the disorientation of the first five seconds of wakefulness dissipates, I remember that I stepped on a light bulb yesterday, and that there are probably still small glass fragments on the floor.

I also notice that it's dark - darker than usual, at least for 8:45 in the morning. But of course, we can blame that on me too, for leaving this in front of the window:

Using the canned air I got for Christmas, I managed to get enough dust out of my Intel D815EEA2 motherboard to clear out what I'm assuming was a short. So while it now boots up, I don't have a case or a power supply for it, as you can clearly see by how I've tried to share power from another machine to it. An ATX mid-tower case + 300w PSU combo is $30 on eBay (includes shipping), and I might get one. Having a NAS that can break over 30Mbits would be nice.

As you might be able to gather from all this, I'm off to a terrible start on my first and only New Year's resolution: "Try to be a bit more socially acceptable."

I also noticed that the post below this one is listed under "Wednesday, December 31, 2008", although at the end it claims to have been posted on "Thursday, January 01, 2009". Well, at least it's not as bad or anywhere near as noticeable and annoying as the 30GB Zune bug.

I tell you it was that Steve Jobs guy responsible for that Zune bug.

Hey Don, all of your stuff has a decidedly derelict look to it. You seem able to adapt lots of stuff to your needs, which I assume is a sign of Techno-Genius....LOL.

Well, building and re-purposing things is something I like doing. Antony's made me well aware that my stuff lacks aesthetic appeal, though.

That comes from a guy whose room used to look like a pig pen.
Since having a dedicated "office", he is a bit tidier, but this is not his strong suit!
